What to Wear | Headshots

STYLE: Choosing what to wear for your headshot session has a lot to do with the kind of image you'd like to create with me. Do you want a friendly, relaxed look? Then think dressy casual. Do you want a personal, professional appearance? Then a suit with a tie or a blouse with a blazer would be best. Remember that we can create several types of images during our session. We can even do a few shots for your online dating profile if you'd like as well!

CHOOSE COLORS THAT COMPLIMENT YOUR COMPANY BRAND: Remember that your headshot will be displayed next to your company branding, logo, and colors.

BRING PROPS AND ACCESSORIES: Using props and accessories is a good way to get different looks out of a single outfit. Also, feel free to use items from your line of work in your portraits.

BRING EXTRA OUTFITS: Typically, I recommend that clients bring 2-3 additional outfit options so that we have variety during our session.

KEEP LARGE LOGOS and CHARACTERS TO A MINIMUM: Small or medium patterns on part of an outfit look fine, but large logos or characters take the emphasis away from you. The exception is if your attire is logowear specifically for your business.

EMPTY POCKETS: Take keys, phones, wallets, and change out of pockets. I've made this mistake before and had to Photoshop out the pocket bulges. I hope to never do that again (grin).

TAKE OFF GLASSES (IF YOU LIKE): If you wear glasses regularly, you can choose to wear them or go without them in the photo shoot. We generally will do shots with and without your glasses so that we have options to choose from. My least favorite kind of glasses are ones with transition lenses. No matter what the lighting situation, transition lenses do not look good. If you have an alternate pair of glasses, contacts, or can go without, I would suggest doing so for our photo shoot.

USE ME AS A RESOURCE! When you book me as your Alpharetta, Milton, or Roswell headshot photographer, you are always welcome to an over-the-phone consult about what to wear to the shoot. I often help finalize outfit choices in person too!
