About Atlanta-area Photographer, Marchet Butler
Hi, I'm Marchet Butler. I know what you're thinking: how do you say that? It's pronounced "Mar-shay". It's a different name, but a fitting one for an artist, so I've grown to love it.
All my life, I've been interested in beautiful imagery. I loved drawing while growing up; my childhood nickname was "Artist." When I studied computers and English in college, my assignments often included illustrations and beautiful design. After college, I taught junior high school teacher for 4 years, including yearbook. That's when I entered the world of photography. All the years I'd made art served me well, and I quickly learned how to translate that into portraiture. When I became pregnant with my son, it was time to buy my first "big" camera. I started building my portfolio, and did my first family photo shoot a few weeks before my son was due.
Eleven years later, I still create family portraits. I love making a piece of family history for my clients: beautiful wall portraits, incredible albums, and other one-of-a-kind portrait art. I'm good with kids of all ages, especially teens. High school seniors find that being in front of my camera is a fun, memorable experience, not intimidating or rushed. I also specialize in headshots for business professionals.
I am a proud member of the Professional Photographers of America and serve as an executive board memeber of the Georgia Professional Photographers Association. I have also earned the distinction of a Certified Professional Photographer through a rigorous testing and portfolio review by my peers. My work appears on the covers of dozens of local magazines including Our Milton Neighbor, WindScene, Our Brookfield and Wexford Neighbors, Park Living, and Sandy Springs Living. I have also created cover images for Atlanta Parent magazine.
Finally (and most importantly), I'm the mom of a quirky, funny, busy boy named Peter, who has Aspergers syndrome and cystic fibrosis. We navigate the world of special needs together with our dog Jack and Peter's dad, Jacob. It is a busy, fulfilling life, and portraiture has a major part in it! I look forward to meeting you. Drop me a line and we will chat!
